As a relative young organization, we have been on steep learning curve, When Exit Poverty was established in 2009 we had been tackling different development challenges & working with a wide range of organizations. In mid 2011, Exit Poverty undertook a strategic reviews of it directions and operation, starting 2012, however, our efforts will focus on limited numbers of development issues on small selects group of strategic partners and would have its headquarters’ in Montreal Canada from Kenya.
Much has changed in the last 3 years; we had a new strategic plan for period 2012-2015 and updated our websites to reflect the changes speculated on our plans. Our website presents our priorities and defines and measures our strategic focus in availing a way for marginalized in Africa to move out of poverty. All of exit poverty funding & advocacy efforts will focus in Africa concentrating on causes that have the best impact including; enhancing enterprises, enhancing equity, advocacy good governance, finance value chains and forcing social change through inspire change program.
The plan positions Exit Poverty and its partners to provide the solutions to address constrains and opportunities faced by the poor through enhancing their enterprises, availing capital in value chains, availing accessible justices, improving governance and sharing success stories to inspire social change. Citizen’s engagement and commitment to self sustainable programs forms the bedrock of our plans.
We commit ourselves to the hard work ahead of us and work smart to accomplish success through treating the poor as customers and not beneficiaries and continuously measuring our progress using agreed Key Performance Indicators. Unlike most NGO/Charity, we will strive to use business DNA in our development efforts in serving the poor, striking long term partnership with donors that are designed to exit from subsidy complexly and secure earned income from the poor to achieve scale.
Exit Poverty is continuously recruiting the best staff, board and developing efficient operating systems early on to enable us build sustainable and scalable solutions. Africa is a big place with hundreds of communities requiring sustainable development solutions, by starting with 5 chapters in Africa; we can demonstrate success and be able to generate traction to replicate our solutions through the 53 countries in Africa by 2021.
